Greencroft is a small rural parish situated in North West County Durham. The wider parish consists of mainly farming land with houses and cottages, and incorporates the hamlet of Maiden Law, Lanchester Rise, Greencroft Estates and surrounding Farms.

The Parish boundaries roughly follow the land of Greencroft Estate; the northern boundary is Tower Road to the north; the A691 to the south, Gorcock Lane to the West and A6076 to the east. It does not , however, include the village of Greencroft to the north which is part of Stanley Town Council.

Greencroft Parish Council is made up of 8* councillors and meets usually on the last Tuesday of every month, except August and December. Meetings take place at Lynwood House, Durham Road, Lanchester and begin at 6:00 pm. All future meetings are displayed in the meetings diary.
